Snail of Approval

 
In 2020 we celebrated a New Zealand first with launch of the Slow Food Auckland Snail of Approval and recognised our inaugural recipients.

The internationally recognised Snail of Approval programme promotes and celebrates locally grown and produced food that is good, clean, and fair and the people who make it happen.

By recognising their intent, passion, and effort rather than perfection, the Snail of Approval is intended to inspire all types of food businesses to embrace Slow Food principles and to help consumers and other food businesses connect with them.

Businesses can be recognised if they are making efforts to produce food that is:

GOOD: Food, which is delicious, nutritious, strengthens community and promotes diversity

CLEAN: Food which protects natural resources and promotes sustainability

FAIR: accessible prices for consumers and fair conditions and pay for producers

ALL: Food which is accessible to all and celebrates a diversity of cultures and traditions
