Slow Food Auckland is committed to supporting local food and food producers and building links to consumers.
We do this in many ways including organising events and initiatives that celebrate “local”, bringing like-minded people together and sharing food stories that matter.
Our growers and producers – including farmers, fishers, cooks, chefs, restaurants and businesses who support good, clean and fair local food – are driving change in our food system.
As consumers and co -producers* we are very important – when we vote with our fork we strengthen local economies and care for our planet. More than just purchasing their products, we are also tapping into the wealth of information and advice they can offer. In this way, we can learn more about quality and increase our understanding of what a healthier, tastier and more responsible diet means for us.
*Slow Food coined the term “co-producer” to highlight the power of the consumer.
